About the Artist

I work for a Los Angeles Menswear brand called Duxton (www.duxton.com). It’s a new startup, small company so I wear different hats at work. My job scope ranges from design, illustrations, production, operations, sales to merchandising. Born and raised in Singapore, but studied for 3 years in London and worked for 1 year in Tokyo 🙂

How did you get started in creating art and how does it enrich your life?

I have always enjoyed creating art, I first started learning photoshop when I was studying Visual Effects in Ngee Ann Polytechnic. I learnt charcoal drawing, sculpture and drawing cartoon animations. I have always enjoyed drawing and sketching and had the idea of picking up painting at the back of mind. It’s only when I started work that I decided to take full use of the SkillsFuture credit to learn something that interest me and haven’t been able to stop painting ever since.
Painting has a meditative effect on me, where I’m able to be in a state of flow and be in the present moment. Everytime when I paint, I learn a new skill or technique. But it also translates to life, I learnt to let go off the outcome and paint for the sake of the enjoyment of painting. In letting go of the outcome, my brushstrokes have become more relaxed and enjoyable.

Please share on your learning experience and what you like about My Art Space

I like the brightness and spaciousness of the studio. And also looking at the different art people are creating around me, its fun to strike up a conversation on another artist on their inspiration for the piece they are working on.
