About the Artist

I am originally from the UK, of Indian heritage and now living in Singapore for the past 11 years. I have Studied Fashion Design at The London College of Fashion and worked as a Fashion Buyer for companies such as Liberty of London and Laura Ashley. During my time in Singapore my love for Art has continued to grow and I began my rewarding journey to explore and paint in the studios of My Art Space. I have more recently diversified into the world of Makeup Artistry working on a variety of projects including Backstage Theatre work, Corporate/Fashion Photoshoots and Special Event Makeup.

How did you get started in creating art and how does it enrich your life?

I have always been passionate about creating Art ever since I can remember. Art has the ability to centre me whilst satisfying the aspiring creative in me. Simply put Art is therapy for the soul, a welcome distraction from life’s daily highs and lows.

Please share on your learning experience and what you like about My Art Space

I have been a member at My Art Space since 2014 and have really enjoyed the easy going classes and wonderful teachers I have had the privilege to have learnt from. The teachers at My Art Space guide me to constantly improve my technical skills whilst encouraging me to think outside the box. Students here are free to express themselves through their work without judgement in a calm environment where freedom of thought is encouraged and all opinions are appreciated, no matter your artistic ability or background..

What’s the best piece of advice you’ve been given about creating art?

Experiment! don’t be afraid of making mistakes as it is usually the mistakes that teach us the biggest lessons.

What's your favourite artwork?

I appreciate all kinds of art, from Portraits to Landscapes, Modern and Abstract Art.

What are you trying to communicate with your art?

My work is often philosophical in nature. I aim to communicate a personal emotion or evoke thought pertaining to current affairs, the natural environment, human form and behaviour.
